The Haute Tots Story

Haute Tots Owner and Founder Angela Schroeder, was only nine when her mother passed on the skill of crocheting. As an Art and Fashion Studies teacher, Angela shared “the lost art of crocheting” with her students who enjoyed making unique hats. While pregnant with her first child, Angela found the repetitive action of crocheting calming, helping her keep her mind off the worries of having a new baby.
When her first daughter was born in 2004, Angela received repeated reminders (from well-meaning relatives) about the importance of having a hat on the new baby to avoid earaches. After scouring the stores for something that fit right, wasn’t too hot, and of course, was cute and fashionable, Angela turned back to her lost art, and crocheted her first baby hat! Compliments from friends, family, and strangers encouraged Angela to start her own business which quickly became an in-home Canadian Business success story!
Demand grew faster than one Mompreneur’s hands could possibly crochet and the Haute Tots family grew. Now a team of mothers in China assist Haute Tots with the crocheting from comfort of their own homes. Supporting the work from home mother in a safe and fair work environment was essential for Haute Tots when making the decision to outsource some of the work. To date, Haute Tots stays in constant communication with the mothers in China to ensure they are rewarded for a job well done.
Haute Tots has grown to a nationally recognized trend for haute babes everywhere. Girls and Boys now sport the carefully crafted hats available in a multitude of colours and embellishments.
